WALT: express a fraction as a decimal and vice versa

I think I am at Extended Abstract because I made something to teach others how to express fractions as decimals and vice versa.

I think I am at extended abstract because I am creating something that shows others how to convert standard to ordinary form and vice versa.

To solve this:

First, you take 8.7x10 to the third power.

All you have to do, is move the decimal in 8.7 over three places.

8.7x10 to the third power= 8700

Now all you have to do is  choose the right sign.

The answer is:

> because 8700 is bigger than 6870

After considering both sides of the argument, my opinion is that businesses have the buggest responsibility. Businesses have to make sure that all of their products are safe for coustomers to use. The businesses also have to pay for their product, managing money is a big responsibility. Sure coustomers have responsibilities as well, but they are very simple compared to the businesses responsibilities.

This part of my writing shows how I used punctuation to enhance my writing.

In the first example, the faulty baby carrier, a company was selling faulty (broken or damaged) products to unknowing consumers (customers). The rights and responsibilities that were broken were: the business (a person or group who provides goods or services) was selling faulty goods and the company was plagiarizing (taking and using ideas) the original company. As a result, the consumers child could be badly injured and the consumer would be wasting money on a faulty product. Consequently, the business will loose customers and will not be trusted.

This piece of writing shows how I used punctuation to add meaning to my writing.

WALT: devise a strategy to solve a fraction number problem 

I think I am at extended abstract because I can create something that shows others how to do this.

First, you find the fractions:

1 3/8 and 5 1/8

Then you add them together because it asks how much milk did they drink in all.

Add the whole numbers first.

5+1= 6

Then, you add the fractions, you add them by adding the numerators and keeping the denominator the same.

3/8 + 1/8= 4/8

Then you simplify 4/8 to 1/2

And you get 6 1/2

WALT: I can use punctuation correctly in my writing

My goal was to use commas and colons effectively. This part of my writing shows that I have correctly used commas and colons.

Over the six short years in Nirvana, Kurtz and the band achieved many things. In total, the band won ten awards: one American music award, one Brit award, one Grammy, five MTV video music awards and one NME award. Kurtz himself won three awards: best new artist in 1992 and best alternative video in 1993 and 1994. The band sold 75 million albums world wide and Smells Like Teen Spirit was their biggest single.

End Of Term Reflection

The area of my learning that I have made the most progress on is maths because I have gotten better at graphing linear rule and interpreting slopes and I got to extended abstract in model and solve linear equations. The area I most want to improve next term is my writing because I am not very confident in my writing.

Media

The media can also influence your decisions. Some of these ways are by false advertising.False advertising is when the media "stretches the truth' (lies) to get you to buy or do something. Another way is by making the product than it actually does. This is mainly used in resturant/ fast food commercials.In McDonalds ads, the food looks much better than it actually does when you buy it. Clearly, the media is not the best choice for decision making. 

Reflection

This piece of writing shows how I have been using descriptive words in my writing. For example I have used Clearly in the last sentence to show my opinion.

good learning strategy

I have improved on practicing and applying strategies. I know this because I can use system 2. I have found focusing challenging because I get distracted. My next step is to focus effectively.

At the moment i think i can play ten guitars well because i can play most of the chords except G7 i have really improved on changing from C to G and my next step is to be able to change from C to G7 and back to C.

NZ should change its national flag

Honestly, New Zealand should change its flag because it looks too much like Australias. The two flags are the same colours and have the same patterns. Both of the flags have the union jack and the southern cross.Having a similar flag could be confusing for tourists. They mioght think we are part of Austrailia when we are not! We could solve this problem by changing the flag.

This writing shows how I used persuasive words/ phrases. For example I used Honestly in the first sentence to show my opinion. Another examploe is the last sentence. I put this in to restate what my argument is about.

My art

The lines in my art are around my sun and my sunshine. Around my mountains and my hills. They are effective because they make the shapes stand out. The colours are on my whole painting. They are effective because it makes the painting look interesting. the tone is in my sunshine. It is effective because it shows the suns rays. The simple shapes are in my mountains and my hills. They are effective because you can still tell what they are. Overall my painting is very good because I have tone, simple shapes, bold lines, and nice colours.
